Plantation House in Kapalua

This restaurant is my absolute favorite!!!  The view is absolutely breathtaking...I think it's so interesting that there are pine trees up in Kapalua (on a tropical island).  The story is that they came from Oregon as seeds on the Pacific current.  Cool, huh?  We always try to make it up there for at least one breakfast or lunch.  All the food is good (a little pricey- but you're paying for the view).  Dinners are amazing, but make sure you are there before sunset to take in the 180 degree view.  For breakfast they have an eggs benedict with tuna wasabi hollandaise.  Amazing!!  A heads-up, I would make a reservation for sure and dress a little nicer than most of the casual dining restaurants.  Nowhere in Maui is really stuffy, but this is kinda like a steak house at home, comparatively speaking.  :)

The Plantation House is technically the clubhouse for the golf course at Kapalua

The view...my pictures do not do it justice

The Bar--  good place for happy hour, but the view is kinda to the side

We even took our family picture up here

The POOL at MKV

Here are just some of  my own pictures of the new pool!  Yay!  There is a hot tub now and a keiki pool (kiddie).  It's perfect for kids that can't quite swim yet- we've spent many a hour in this pool.

The BEACH at MKV

I get a lot of questions asking if the beach is a "sandy beach".  I hope this is clear enough. :)  The beach in front of MKV is all sand, and beautiful.  There is some reef about 50 yards out where you can see some fish if you snorkel.  I've included pics from the little beach shack where you can rent snorkels, catamarans, cabanas.   I hear there's even better snorkeling a little north.  And of course black rock is phenomenal.  The best snorkeling is early in the morning.  During the winter months, the waves get a little bigger.  You may hear of the waves on the other side of black rock (in front of the Whaler) knocking people off their feet.  I've seen many people get worked by the waves, so do be careful.  However, even in the winter, because black rock acts like a buffer from the south swell, our beach is still very swimmable, even for children.

That's black rock in the distance

If you aren't into sand, you can lounge on a chair on the grass overlooking the ocean

The lending library off the lobby has comfy couches if you wanted to curl up with a book
